Bluebells and Beer in Buckinghamshire

Join us on this 10 mile walk taking in the delights of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Buckinghamshire.
We will start our walk in Forty Green, home of the oldest free house in England, dating back over 800 years. Heading out of Forty Green we cross fields and through small wooded areas towards Winchmore Hill (not the London namesake) with its large Village Green.
Leaving Winchmore Hill crossing more fields and further wooded areas we arrive in Penn Street Village, depending on time and whether we may stop at The Squirrel for a drink before heading into Penn Woods. Penn Woods is an ancient woodland, managed by Woodland Trust and is rated highly for its bluebell woods. It's also home to a herd of cows, plenty of red kites and plenty of butterflies.
After Penn Wood we head back through beautiful countryside crossing Beacon Hill village before heading back down to Forty Green and a post walk drink at The Royal Standard of England. The pub's history goes back to Saxon times and it chronicles life in England and Buckinghamshire since then, including a checkered history in the civil war, plenty of ghosts (including the drummer boy who can still be heard in the car park) and the selling of an illegally strong country ale to local railway workers which you can still buy today!
Don't waste that space!
Spring and Summer walks mean lots of new and existing members excited to be getting out more. Please only book if you know you can make it. If your plans change please free up the space for someone else.
Is it dog friendly?
Dogs are welcome but please note and abide by the Countryside Code (https://tinyurl.com/rlqvp3h) and be prepared for a couple of stiles / hills on the walk and fields with sheep & lambs. Please also remember not everyone loves dogs as much as you do so please be mindful of other members.
