Abington and Wanlockhead Road Cycle

A cracking ride 41mile (counter clockwise) through the southern uplands of South Lanarkshire and Dumfries & Galloway in a loop from the M74 Motorway, down for a stop at Sanquhar and up the the Mennock Pass which features in the 100 best climbs book by Simon Warren.
This route follows along some of the hill tops and also some of the glens along the way up in the old mining areas of Leadhills.
The route can be seen on Strava. No-one will get left behind and we will keep the pace to match the group. After the ride, we will go to a suitable venue for a cup of tea etc.
For those of you with no car transport, the leader will offer to pair you up with another member with a car so as to get you there. If required, this event can be run as a socially distant one.
Photos are the event leader's own images.
What to bring
Some parts of this ride can be quite exposed depending on the weather. Make sure therefore, that you come with suitable wind and waterproof clothing in case of need.
A bare minimum is that you bring bike tools, puncture repair kit and an inner tube.
Food & drink
Make sure you come with plenty of snacks and drinks. The only "refuelling" point is in Sanquhar which is about halfway around the ride.
