The first of our 2 consecutive hikes along the Cornish SW Coast Path.
Saturday: A Passage to Helford
Sunday: Coverack & Back
Today our walk will begin in Porthallow and head North following the SW Coast path to Helford. Passing intriguingly named PoI's such as "Snails Creep", "Nare Head", "Parbean Cove", "Ponsence Cove" before reaching the mouth of the Helford river and following it upstream to Helford village.
At Helford you will have free time for pictures, Cornish cream teas or perhaps a ferry over to the north side, prior to returning to Porthallow back the route we came.
For those interested, there will be an option to either take dinner at the 5 Pilchards or a BBQ back at PK Divers.
If doing both days you might like to stay at a campsite, hostel or B&B nearby, there are lots of options locally. You’ll need to make your own arrangements, but you are welcome to stay at the same place as the event leader who will be staying at Porthkerris Campsite.

What to bring
Water: bring at least two litres
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Day rucksack: typically 20-30 litres, they are comfortable to wear and allow you to use your arms freely
Boots: waterproof and breathable and designed for hiking, trainers are OK if the ground is dry and there’s little chance of rain
Gaiters: recommended for wet weather or boggy conditions
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters
Layered clothing: lets you quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather add an outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers: ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and on warm days shorts are OK
