What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a specific way that increases the use of the upper body. It's rapidly growing in popularity as a way to keep fit, so could be a great addition to your normal hiking outings.
What the day involves:
10.00am: Morning Fast Track Nordic Walking tuition
1.00pm: Break for lunch at The Manifold Café, Ilam.
2pm - 4pm: A Nordic Walk in the parkland and surrounding area (approx. 4 miles) to see some of the most iconic sites around Dovedale. This will reinforce you Nordic Walking Skills whilst really relaxing and socialising in the afternoon.

No equipment or experience is needed.

What to bring
No poles are needed as these are provided
Good walking shoes, or trainers - walking boots may be too heavy and bulky, you'll need something more lightweight. Dress appropriately and ideally with layers you can remove if you get too hot. You'll need water to drink and maybe something for a mid-walk snack.
Food & drink
Either bring your own, or there is a cafe we will be using for your lunch stop.
You will need to bring plenty of water to take with you on the walk.
