28 people attending

Over New Years Eve and New Years Day we hope to have a couple of walks on both days for members to sign up for but for New Years Evening we'll be meeting up to spend the night celebrating the past year and the New Year to come.
DETAILS
Evenings
New Year’s Eve – If we can meet from 6-7pm in the breakfast dining room (room to the right as you walk into the hostel). There is a bar in the hostel which you’re supposed to use, so just be a tiny bit sneaky if your drinking your own!
Just after 7pm we will be heading into Ambleside which is around a 10 min walk there are plenty of pubs / bars in the town which are open with several having late licences until 2 / 4am for the party goers! I would imagine all the bars will be very busy so we’ll walk down Lake Road and ideally go to the ‘The Lily’ ‘Churchill Inn’ and ‘White Lion’ in that order depending on how busy they are, for the New Year celebrations we’ll head to the Ambleside Tavern.
I would advise you eat before or during the 6-7pm, there is food served in the hostel, a self-catering kitchen, chippy 5 min drive away or restaurants / bars in the village serving food.
Sunday & New Year’s Day evening – If people want to meet in the bar area at 7pm for whoever is staying over in the YHA.
Activities – New Year’s Eve (Monday)
Dan – Short drive to Elterwater – Meet outside the Hostel at 9.30am – We’ll need to car share
7 Mile walk, fairly low level talking in some of the sights around Little Langdale including Cathedral Quarry, Hodge Close, Slater Bridge and a few pubs.
David – Starts as a walk directly from the hostel – Meet outside the Hostel at 8.30am
A more adventurous walk taking in some proper peaks which will still get you back in time for pre drinks! Taking in some of the peaks behind Ambleside including Low Pike, High Pike, Scandale Pass, Red Screes then descends for A BEER AT THE KIRKSTONE PASS INN before returning to Ambleside. The route is 11 miles but can be cut short in case of bad weather.
Douglas – Bike Ride – Meet outside the Hostel at 9.30am

Join us on New Year's Eve for a short cycle in the Southern Lake District, mostly on minor or B-Class roads.
Starting in Ambleside, Our anti-clockwise circular route will take us along the quieter eastern edge of Coniston Water before returning via Grizedale Forest and Hawkshead.
New Year’s Day
Loughrigg & Rydal Walk – 10.45am outside the Hostel
Pretty tame walk over 8miles to try and get rid of the hangover. The walk takes in some famous sights including Loughrigg, Grassmere, and Rydal, with one of my favourite view points Loughrigg Terrace.

What to bring
We will be walking into the town most probably so something warm / dry could be needed.
Food & drink
YHA does have rules surrounding alcohol consumed on the ground floor that it must be from the bar due to licensing.
