Gwerniago campsite is located at the southern end of Snowdonia and is ideally situated for mountains and beaches. The iconic mountain Cadir Idris is 15 minutes to the east the harbour village of Aberdyfi to the west is a 15 minutes' drive away, offering blue flag beaches and sand dunes.
We will be doing all sorts - climbing Cadir, walking the golden beaches, strolling through the woodlands, riding the local bike trails or visiting the many historic attractions.
The area is also great for bikers with some highly popular cycling tracks nearby (Mach 1, 2, 3 and climax).
There is a local pub nearby and Machylleth is a nice market town with pubs and shops. 'Best Fish and Chip Shop in Wales' is just three miles away.
This is also handy for anyone wanting to come by train - direct from Birmingham.
Well behaved dogs are welcome as are campervans or small motorhomes. The site is grass and so not suitable for larger motorhomes, in case of inclement weather. Electric hook-up may be available at an additional charge of £4 per night and this would need to be booked directly with the OutdoorLads office.
Food & drink
You will need to cater for all your own food arrangements but camp fires are allowed (when possible please bring your own fire basket; logs can be purchased from reception).
The village of Pennal is within easy walking distance, the local hostelry Glan Yr Afon/Riverside offers good food lunchtimes and evenings and a range of national and local Welsh ales and spirits.
