Event Details
Join us for a moderate 9 mile day walk through the grounds of the magnificent Lyme Park and up onto the moors beyond.
We'll set off from the village of Disley and follow the Gritstone Trail into the park. Lyme Park is a 1,400 acre estate that once belonged to the Legh family and is now managed by the National Trust. As we walk through the park, look out for the red deer that roam the estate as well as the elegant Regency house where the BBC's 'Pride and Prejudice' was filmed.
After walking through the park, we'll head out onto Park Moor which gives great views over the surrounding area on a clear day. We'll re-enter the park via the West Gate, heading through woodland back towards the house and the 'Cage', a folly sat atop a hill which may once have been used as a hunting lodge. From there, we'll follow the main drive back to our start point at Disley.
This being a National Trust property, there will hopefully also be time for a tea and cake stop! :)
