London Christmas Climbing and Bouldering Evening and Social 2017

To celebrate the festive season, this last session before Christmas will be a little different! We're having a slightly shorter session climbing and/ or bouldering at the Castle, before heading to The Brownswood for a christmas drink!
Come and join OutdoorLads at The Castle Climbing Centre! The Castle is the 'premier climbing centre' in South East England, receiving more annual visits than any other centre in the UK. Constructed within a massive Victorian pumping station it really does look like a castle. There are 450 routes over 95 lines set across 1000 metres of wall…
With a range of slabs, cracks, roofs, off-widths, stepped roofs and long overhangs there really is something for every level of climber. The Castle has a busy, vibrant social atmosphere, to which the OutdoorLads climbers certainly add.
Indoor climbing centres offer the challenges of climbing that you'll find on natural outdoor structures - simply indoors! It's a fun way to stay fit, you'll quickly begin to develop arm, back, finger and core strength as a result of the many reaches and holds that are repeated through to the completion of a climb. It's a great upper-body workout!
This event is for members who are deemed to be competent climbers and do not require a guided session. All members that fulfil this criteria are welcome to come along to any of the sessions.
To come along, you will need to register via the event page, and to climb you will need to pay an entry fee directly to the centre when you arrive. For entry fee prices at the centre go to: www.castle-climbing.co.uk/admission-membership.
If you have not been to the centre before you can save time by registering online. Go to www.castle-climbing.co.uk/online-registration and select the Unsupervised Climbing/Bouldering form and complete the details. When you get to the centre all the details should be there on the system.
It is important that all members sign up through the event page to make sure the event leader has all information of the members attending.
What to bring
Please bring your usual equipment - harness and belay equipment - if you're planning on roped climbing, or your shoes and chalkbag if you're bouldering. All items can be hired from the centre's shop for a small fee if you need to.
A £1 coin will be required to secure any belongings in the on-site lockers.
What to Wear
It is best to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms. No jeans or any form of trouser which hampers movement. A t-shirt or vest is also suitable.
If you have any OutdoorLads branded clothing then please try and wear this as it will give the group a good level of visibility.
Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.
Food & drink
As this is a slightly shorter session that usual, we'll skip the usual break (though if you'd like to, do of course take one!), and head over to the Brownswood a little earlier for a Christmas drink and get-together.
