This is a different route to the previous Jervaulx Abbey walk (in February 2024)

This gentle 7.5 mile walk, will take us  through the beautiful countryside of Jervaulx Abbey and it’s gently roving hills (think telly tubbies landscape) . Once we leave the abbey grounds we head for Thornton Steward, through delicious green pastures to Danby Hall and on to Ullshaw, before walking along the riverside filled with butterflies, bees and dragonflies,  taking us back to Jervaulx Abbey.

Upon our return, we will go into the Abbey to wander around to enjoy the beautiful wild flowers which grow on the walls and around the ruins,  (free entry, there’s an honesty box for donations), and then to finish the day, the option to picnic in the abbey's picnic area amongst the ruins.

Otherwise there’s the ice cream parlour a mile down the road heading back towards Masham which has a cafe serving, tea, coffee, cake, and an incredible selection of gorgeous ice cream.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on this event. However, please ensure you keep your dog on a lead and under control when in areas where livestock are present.
