Join Richard and other OutdoorLads folk for a 5k run at Zuiderpark in the Netherlands.
Parkrun is a weekly event that takes place every Saturday at locations across the world. Those of you who are regular parkrunners will know of the challenge to run at a different parkrun for every letter of the alphabet. I am heading over to the Netherlands to grab a 'Z' and you are welcome to meet me and some other OutdoorLads folks there.
You will need to arrange your own flights and accommodation to get to the parkrun. There are plenty of flights from the UK to get you into the Netherlands on Friday, or you can hop on the Eurostar. I will be staying at Hostel Den Haag (The Hague), where you can get a bed in a dorm for a very reasonable price. I have booked to stay Friday 22nd August - Sunday 24th, flying into Amsterdam on Friday 22nd August from Manchester at 14:35 and back to Manchester on the 18:00 on Monday 25th August.
We will meet at 8:45 at the start of the run between AV Sparta and Sportcampus, I'll be wearing an OutdoorLads t-shirt, and the run starts at 9am. You can register for Parkrun and get your own barcode from www.parkrun.org.uk to scan at the end of your run to record your finish time if you wish. However, you do not need to do this to take part in the run if you don't want to.
Course Description: The event will take place here: Zuiderpark, Meester P. Droogleever Fortuynweg, 2533 SR, The Hague. The route is an asphalted footpath. Some parts of the route can get muddy, wet and slippery when it rains.
Post run: After the run we can look to grab some breakfast locally. I will be staying in the Hague all weekend leaving on Monday 25th August so will be exploring the Hague and taking a day trip to Rotterdam / Amsterdam over the weekend, which you are welcome to join us for if you wish.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
On occasion Parkruns can be cancelled due to lack of volunteers. Should this happen I will try to email members as soon as I am made aware.

What to bring
Consider the weather ahead of setting off for your park run. It is important that you stay cool when running so try to pick lightweight clothing. Materials like polyester & nylon are perfect for the warmer months and wool is better suited for the winter. You don't need to invest in expensive running gear t-shirt and shorts, leggings will be fine, as well as a warm jumper for when you finish.
It might seem obvious, but running shoes are specifically designed for running, so you should wear them when you running if you have some. Trainers will be fine but wont provide as good cushioning or comfort.
Food & drink
I would suggest bringing a drink of water to re hydrate after your run and you may wish to bring a snack bar or banana.
