Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre are staging a new play to celebrate all things Eurovision, written by Jonathan Harvey, writer of 90s coming out classic Beautiful Thing, raucous comedy Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Coronation Street, amongst others.

'A Thong for Europe' tells the story of local lass Lulu who is the biggest Eurovision nut that you will ever meet. Conceived to the beat of ABBA’s tambourine, she only drinks Bucks Fizz and Sonia had to take out a restraining order against her in 2002.

As you've probably gathered, this is an irreverent but affectionate look at the contest which is packed with all your favourite Eurovision songs.

If you'd like to join us for the show you will need to buy tickets from the Royal Court Theatre website (A Thong For Europe - Royal Court Theatre (liverpoolsroyalcourt.com).  It's the evening show on Wednesday 10th May that you'll need to book and circle tickets are £19 each.  £1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

As people will need to book their own tickets, we may not end up sitting together, but we can still hang out before the show, during the interval and we'll go for a drink afterwards.

Outdoorlads also has other events taking place in Liverpool during Eurovision week, including a Music Themed Walk on Wednesday daytime (Eurovision Week - City of Music Walk | OutdoorLads) and a Queer History walk on the Friday (Eurovision week- Queer history | OutdoorLads).
