Outdoor Lads are going to join the Ras Moel Eilio Race set in the heart of Snowdonia, climbing out of Llanberis taking in the summits of Moel Eilio Foel Gron, Foel Goch and Moel Cynghorion, before descending back in to the village. The distance is 8m (12.9km), assent 3000ft (914m) and costs £5, entered on the day with proceeds going towards Tenovus Cancer Care.

This is fell race with a good deal of climb and will need some hard work/determination. If the weathers clear there will be fantastic scenery and if not you can concentrate on the ground in front of you. There will be approximately 100 entrants and you can expect to take 1.5–2 hours to complete the race at 12min/mile pace plus. There will be marshals at key points on route to make sure you don’t get lost.

We will assemble at the Rugby Club for 11:00 to arrange lift sharing, transfer to Llanberis will take approx. 40 minutes. After parking up will register at the Padarn Lake Hotel ready to get to the start for 13:00. At the finish we will wait for all ODL members then move to “Pete’s Eats” for a debrief about which bits hurt most.

You must wear suitable footwear, fell shoes suitable for soft/loose ground - road racing flats are out! To fulfil the safety requirements of a Welsh Fell Race you need to carry a waterproof jacket and trousers (with taped seams and hood), gloves, hat, or buff, map, compass and whistle. This is best carried in a small rucksack or bum-bag. This may be relaxed on the day, dependent on the weather, but you must be prepared to take this kit with you.
