About the hike

We start this 10mile hike by heading south from the Birthday Weekend venue - we'll set off for Ashford in the Water and and then meander along the River Wye before heading off up through Little Shacklow Wood.

From there, we'll hike up to Magpie Mine, a well-preserved disused lead mine near the village of Sheldon in Derbyshire, England.

Once we've taken in the views, we'll continue our walk west until we get to the market town of Bakewell, a lovely little spot to grab a drink, sit by the river or sample one or two of the world-renowned Bakewell Pudding! (FYI: Served Warm with cream is the best!)

Once we've hit a happy sugary high, we'll then head north again along the Monsal trail and back onto the Campsite.

This walk is approximately 16km (10 Miles) and ascends to over 300m at the highest point, and let's be honest, any hike with a pudding or cake involved is guaranteed to be a winner!
