** Note that this walk is on the long side (18miles) for this time of year and we'll need to set a good pace to ensure we get back to the station before dark. **
Join me for another walk exploring the fine High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This time we'll enjoy a nice long circular walk from Eridge where, at the walk's outer reaches, we'll enter into Pooh Country - a part of the Ashdown Forest which provided A. A. Milne the real world inspiration for many of the site of adventure in the Winnie the Pooh books.
We set off west from Eridge and pick the High Weald Landscape trail which takes us through gently rolling farmland via Withyham to Hartfield.
From Hartfield we head south and enter into Pooh Country. We pass by Pooh Corner and follow a path out to Pooh Sticks Bridge before heading up to Gills Lap, aka The Enchanted Place.
Turning back towards Eridge we wander along high in Ashdown Forest before heading down to farmland through Five Hundred Acre Wood - known in the books as Hundred Aker Wood. Here we leave Pooh Country behind and head back to Eridge via country lanes and farm paths.
It's likely we'll venture into a local pub to enjoy a post walk recovery beverage.
