The Tweed Cycleway is a designated cycle route around 95 miles long that follows the course of the River Tweed through the heart of the Scottish Borders. By following mainly minor roads, it avoids heavy traffic and is an ideal way to discover the delightful scenery that this region has to offer along with its many attractions including castles, abbeys and gardens.
The terrain is mostly gentle, undulating, with just a few short steep sections and is best suited to a road or hybrid bike.
Come September 2015 the Scottish Borders will be once again joined to the rail network for the first time in almost 47 years and this will make it practical to cover the whole Tweed cycleway in two separate day trips. This event will cover the first section from Carstairs junction (a few miles west of the start of the route) to Tweedbank, just outside Galashiels - the terminus of the newly re-opened railway line.
Look out for a second event covering the latter section from Tweedbank to Berwick upon Tweed - possibly in the spring of 2016.

Food & drink
There will be various places en route where we can have a pub / cafe stop or buy food, but it would be a good idea to carry some spare food with you, in case of any unforseen delays.
