Join Ste for a good day out in the Cleveland Hills.
This walk wanders around the hills surrounding the once family farm of Captain Cook and to one of North Yorkshire's iconic and often hiked Roseberry Topping.
Partway round, the group will be stopping for Sunday lunch at one of the many nice eateries in the area. so just snacks required for the brief stops around the route.
The route heads from Gribdale Gate on to a quieter path overlooking remoter valleys to the south on Great Ayton Moor.
Steeply descending the route brings the main destination into view. This is ascended by a zig zag cobbled staircase and very well managed path to the rocky summit. We will stop for a snack to admire the outstanding views taking care near the steeper vertical to the west. The descent on the southern slope less steep and zig zags into Newton Wood. We will at this point branch off for food.
Returning through woodland to the startpoint this will round off a brilliant day out in the hills.
