Three Dukes and a Hardwick - Day Walk
15 people attending
15 places left
This is a moderately lengthy walk in Robin Hood country, however this will be broken up by a leisurely stop at the national trust property at Clumber where you can indulge in a cream tea.
Three of the former great estates of the Dukeries - Worksop, Welbeck and Clumber - are passed through on this walk that takes you over the gentle wooded slopes of the Manor Hills on the northern fringes of Sherwood Forest. The section through the dense, peaceful and secluded woodland of Welbeck Park is particularly attractive and memorable.
The mid section of the walk is in Clumber Park, a beautiful expanse of parkland, heath and woods covering more than 3,800 acres. We'll stop here for lunch before seeing the beautifully situated chapel by the magnificent lake on route to the 19th-century estate village of Hardwick, from here we make our route back to the start point through more wonderfully peaceful woodland with its mosaic of habitats home to an amazing array of wildlife.
