We'll set off from Macclesfield Station towards the Macclesfield Canal. After crossing a golf course and passing through the village of Langley, we'll arrive in Tegg's Nose Country Park, site of an old quarry, which gives impressive views over Macclesfield Forest towards Shutlingsloe. We'll have lunch in the park before following the Gritstone Trail towards the village of Rainow, and beyond that, the 'White Nancy' folly on the hill above Bollington, which was built to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo. After that, we'll drop down through farmland back to the Macclesfield Canal and our start point in Macclesfield.

What to bring
You'll need good walking boots or shoes, walking trousers (no jeans), warm clothes (layers are best), a rucksack and waterproofs just in case. Depending on the weather, a hat and gloves may be a good idea, or suncream if you're more optimistic!
Food & drink
You'll need to bring a packed lunch and enough liquids to keep you hydrated during the walk. There will be an optional pub stop at the end, so bring some money for that.
