Tees Heritage Trail

Join Steven for a walk along the lower river Tees west of Middlesbrough.
This interesting route pays tribute to the industrial heritage of the area continuing upstream from the iconic Tees Transporter Bridge that dominates the skyline of 'Ironopolis' passing the Tees Barrage and Infinity Bridge to return to the suburbs of Eaglescliffe.
This will be a walk that includes several pauses along the way and there will be many references to the local history, the engineers that raised the long standing bridges and their impact on the local communities of Teesside.
The Tees Way is followed for much of the route and although the river winds through a largely urban setting the middle and later sections are full of wildlife with four nature reserves being visited. There are also distant views to the Cleveland hills to the south and towards the Pennines far away to the west.
This is an easy route on good wide clear pathways, there are only two short climbs on the banks of the river and there will be a stop around the halfway point for a drink and a light bite to eat.
Come and sample a bit of Teesside, learn a little and enjoy a winter wander in good company.
