Join me on this pleasant walk over the surrey hills. We will be setting off near the campsite being used for the Surrey Hills Camp 2024 and anyone is welcome to come along and join us.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Stunning views of the Surrey  Hills

  • Stopping at Leith Hill Tower

  • Beautiful forest walks

  • Pub stops

We head off from the meeting place heading north through Leith Hill wood then right towards Leith Hill Tower. Leith Hill is the second highest place in the south east of england. Standing at 294m above sea level and will afford us excellent views. The tower is an 18th-century Gothic tower now under the ownership of the Nation Trust.

Leaving the tower we again head north through more stunning woodland. Turning west to start our loop back we pass Friday Street, a small hamlet. We press on and down to Holmbury St Mary where we will make a well-earned pub stop.

Leaving the pub, we arrive at our second and amazing view of the day at Holmbury Hill.

From wikipedia.

“Holmbury Hill is a wooded area of 261 metres (856 ft) above sea level in SurreyEngland, and the site of an Iron Age-period hillfort. The Old Saxon word "holm" can be translated as hill [1] and "bury" means fortified place.”

Leaving Holmbury hill we will head back to the Car park and the walk will end.
