Snowdonia Multi-Activity Mountain Weekend: Scrambling
9 people attending
1 place left
We're back at the in North Wales for another epic weekend of mountaineering!
This day event is open only to people booked onto the bunkhouse weekend, here. Please book a place on the bunkhouse event as well as this scrambling event OR the climbing event, OR the Challenging Mountain Walk event.
This scrambling will be a challenging day out on a grade 2 or 3 route and you should sign up only if you have some scrambling or climbing experience with OutdoorLads. You should also have the right kit and know how to use it (see kit list), be confident in a challenging mountain environment and have a head for exposure to heights. The precise route will be decided by the event leader on arrival to take account of group experience and conditions on the day.
This event is for both a Saturday and Sunday scramble.
Dogs: This event is not suitable for dogs.
Participation Statement
As a BMC Affiliate member, Outdoorlads draws your attention to the fact that scrambling is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement.
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur scramblers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
A note on the weather
Members should understand that this activity is very weather dependent – scrambling at higher grades can be exhilaratingly challenging in good conditions, and can be downright dangerous when it's wet or windy. Whilst we will do everything reasonably possible to run the event as described, the event leader may need to change the location and/or other event details to best suit the anticipated weather. We will advise members booked on, or interested, in the event of this as soon as is practical, but you should understand that in certain circumstances it may be necessary to change the nature of the event significantly, or cancel the event all together.
What to bring
You will need good sturdy mountain boots, ideally B1, though any stiff-soled boot with good grip and a sharp front climbing edge will be required. If you don't have these, it is possible to hire a pair from a nearby store for around £10 per day.
The scramble will likely have areas where we will rope in, and therefore will require the wearing of a climbing harness and helmet. If you don't have these, or are not familiar with their use, please contact the event leader before you sign up.
Please be prepared for any weather, so bring waterproofs (jacket and trousers) and some warm layers in case the weather is not what we hope for...it is the UK! On the flipside, do bring some sun screen and sunglasses as well, just in case.
Insect repellent is advisable to those considered tasty to midges...
Don't forget to bring packed lunch and plenty of water and snacks for Saturday & Sunday.
Food & drink
You will need to supply your own packed lunch, snacks and drinks for the daytime activities. Please make sure you bring plenty of things to keep you energised throughout the day, and don't forget to bring plenty of water.
