This is an easy 12 mile walk from Waterloo (just north of Liverpool) to Freshfield (just south of Southport) passing a variety of landscapes and wildlife with sandy beaches, coastal marshes, pine woodlands, heathery heathland and tidal estuaries that provide views across the Irish Sea to North Wales, Snowdonia and the Lake District on a clear day.
We'll also be able to explore Antony Gormley's 'Another Place' installation.
On completetion of this linear walk, we'll take the train back down the coast to our start point. Trains run every 15 minutes back to Waterloo and an Anytime Day Single ticket will cost £3.45.

What to bring
Normal outdoor gear will suffice. We'll be typically walking along well-managed, public footpaths, beaches and through small wooded areas.
Food & drink
You will need to bring a packed lunch and snacks to last you through the day as well as a hot drink and plenty of liquids to keep you hydrated.
We may visit a pub in Freshfield before catching the train back to our start point.
