Rhaeadr Nantcol - Wild Hills and Waterfalls camping weekend

Join us for a weekend camping at Nantcol Waterfalls, nestled at the foot of the Rhinog mountains.
Far less well known than the areas in the north of the Snowdonia National Park, the Rhinogydd are a wild range of hills in central Snowdonia that are rougher than anything else south of Scotland.The Rhinog mountains are popular with hillwalkers looking for a more isolated, wilder walking experience and we plan to put on a strenuous walk to explore these hills properly.
If mountains aren't for you, Cwm Nantcol has beautiful woods and spectacular waterfalls to explore, and we're also not far from the beach.
Showers - the showers operate on a shower card system which allows a 5-minute shower per card. These cards will be issued to campers at Reception.
Campfires - Nantcol Waterfalls allow campfires but the site is within a Tree Preservation Area and as such we can only allow the burning of manufactured logs – the collection of deadwood and live wood is not permitted. Fires require the use of Fire Baskets only, which can be bought on site or hired from Reception. We will sort a communal fire.
Mobile signal - signal is weak at this site but, if you're desperate to get online, you can pay for wifi access. Alternatively, if you venture 100 metres up the hill on the same side as the waterfalls you should obtain 4 bars from most signal providers.
Dogs - the site permits dogs with well behaved owners, but charges £4 per dog for the weekend payable on arrival to the site in cash.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.
What to bring
In addition to the below, you should bring your walking gear - boots, waterproofs, warm clothing etc.
There are some great swimming spots in and around this campsite, if the weather is fine and you want to partake in that, then you should bring a spare towel, some wet shoes are a great idea and some swimwear (or not). (Swimming strictly at your own risk.)
Tent: make sure you know how to pitch it, even in bad weather or in the dark. Check you have all the poles, ropes and pegs. A 3-season tent is the minimum recommended level of protection.
Sleeping bag: one that provides adequate warmth, designed to go below the temperature that you expect
Sleeping mat: will keep you warmer and dryer
Waterproof bags: for spare, dry clothing
Food: search online for camping food that’s easy to cook and filling
Hot drinks: at least in cold weather - this is September, anything could happen
Cooking Equipment: check you have fuel and know how yours works
Eating equipment: mug, bowl or plate and cutlery
Washing up equipment: detergent, brush/scourer and tea towel
Wash kit: remember to include a towel, shower gel and shampoo
Torch: or easier still, a head torch
Food & drink
The site has a pizza oven on site which is there during the summer. They are currently hopeing to have it in operation fom 1 July, weather depending, so there is every chance it'll be available to buy pizza from when we are there.
Limited shops/pubs can be found at Llanbedr - the Victoria Inn has a food menu (01341 241213) - but that's 1.5miles down the hill from the campsite so better to come prepared to cook on site.
Bring enough food for two evening meals, two breakfasts and, if you plan to do a walk on the Sunday, two lunches.
