A good linear route exploring this part of the Northeast showcasing the woodland, heathland and farmland pasture of the area and visiting many points of interest. Flatts Lane Country Park nature reserve is the first area explored before walking to the Eston Hills highest point at Eston Nab and taking time to study the many fine views across both Teesside and back south to the Cleveland Hills and Roseberry Topping. The grand ruins of Gisborough Priory on the outskirts of the town are seen at close proximity before winding through villages and over lower hills, emerging from woodland by a stream at Valley Gardens to finish on the shoreline at Saltburn Pier with plenty of options for a snack before heading back by train. This walk will be done at a steady pace not to be rushed.

What to bring
Please wear good walking shoes/boots that are to a degree waterproof as there are a few small muddy sections after rain. Gaiters or waterproof over trousers would be beneficial. A hat , gloves, fleece and base layer are all essential to have at this time of year. I would recommend to bring binoculars if you have any for the birdwatching around here is good and to use at the summit of the hills.
Food & drink
Please bring plenty to drink between 1.5 litres and 2litres a warm drink would be advisable at this time of year. We will be eating on the top of the Eston Hills so please bring a packed lunch and visiting an Inn past the half way point. Shops will be available in Guisborough.
