This event has been postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19. Once we have a new date, we will update the page and message all those booked on with the new information.
Last year was our first event at the Ennerdale Scout camp and as you can see by the pictures everyone really enjoyed themselves. The campsite was idyllic next to the shore of Ennerdale Water in a lightly forested area with great facilities and an amazing camp fire area! Ennerdale is also a dark sky area which means very little light pollution, in the evenings we had some magical skys and one night all 30+ of us walked to the shore of the lake to look upwards at the Universe! :)
Fingers crossed for a clear night and we'll be able to enjoy Ennerdale's Dark Sky accreditation with our very own Dr. Ken (Astroman) who'll be able to guide us though the night sky!
This page is for the hostel option, but a camping option is also available.
The hostel (Chalet) is basic but comfortable with plenty of showers, kitchen facilities and a large indoor area for socialising if we are unlucky with the weather - You will need to bring bedding.
In the day times we'll be hiking up the fells either side of Ennerdale Water with options also of driving to the coast for a coastal walk at St Bee's. We also may have the possibility of some raft building / water sports TBC.
The campsite is fairly remote with the nearest pub being around a 20 minute walk away so most likely we'll be spending the evenings around the camp fire and if wet there is a indoor space.
Dogs: This event is not suitable for dogs. You can camp with a dog, however - see the camping page instead.

Day Walk Kit List
• Rucksack (with a plastic liner bag or cover)
• Waterproof jacket and trousers
• Walking boots and socks
• Thermal base layer (synthetic fibres rather than cotton)
• Fleece mid layer
• Walking trousers
• Hat and gloves
• Lunch and drink
• Small torch
• Spare food
• Spare warm layer
• Sunglasses and sun cream (if that time of year!)
• Extra thermal leggings and top (synthetic fibres rather than cotton)
• Thermos flask
• Trekking poles
• Personal first aid and medication
• Money for a pub stop at the end of the day!
Food & drink
Nearest shop is a drive away so try and be as self sufficient as possible.
The event cost includes breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Saturday evening and tea/coffee throughout the weekend.
For Friday night you are asked to bring a contribution to the buffet which will be served between 7-8pm.
You will need to bring items for your packed lunch on Saturday, plus any other drinks you'd like. The campsite is fairly remote so try and bring everything you may need.
