Outdoor climbing at Hen Cloud, Staffordshire
5 people attending
1 place left
Join us for a day's trad climbing at Hen Cloud. This superb castellated buttresses offer some of grit's finest and longest crack routes, including some multi-pitch options. There are climbs accross the grades, and like the neighbouring Roaches, this includes some excellent lower graded routes. The event is therefore suitable for those starting off outdoors as well as those with some outdoor climbing experience already.
Some of us will be attending the event from the nearby Easter Hostel Event (which is already full!) and will be climbing at Roaches (Sat) and Hen Cloud (Sun) as part of that events programme of events, but you don't have to be on the hostel to attend either (or both!).
To attend this event you will have some climbing experience (either indoors or outdoors, preferably with Outdoorlads) and you will be competent with tying in with a figure 8 knot and belaying, preferably lead belaying. If you are unsure whether you have the appropriate experience feel free to send me a message.
When climbing outdoors each leader can climb with, at most, two less experienced climbers, one of which must be a competent lead belayer. For that reason, the number of places on this event may need to be revised up or down nearer to the time, depending on the availability of leaders, and ability of the group. The event leader will keep everyone registered on the event informed of any changes.
The plan will be to meet on the roadside directly below the crag near The Roaches Tea Rooms (which also offers a relatively inexpensive parking field if the road is full) at 09:50 am ready to start walking up to Hen Cloud at 10:00am.
If there is wet weather the event may be cancelled, or moved location.
Further information about the climbs at Hen Cloud can be found at the ukclimbing.com pages for the three sections of the crag:
