Newcastle : Wylam : an afternoon walk by the River Tyne

Join Kieren and the outdoorlads for a 7 mile afternoon walk along the River Tyne. We'll meet at the Tyneside Country Park at Newburn. With favourable weather at our back, we'll amble along the beautiful south bank of the Tyne to Wylam, taking in the impossibly hunky rowers, and possibly the odd seal, kingfisher or heron on the way, and take a brew at the fine real ale pub, The Boathouse.
At present, the north bank path is closed, so we'll do a tiny wee deviation in-land to return, followed by a triumphant descent onto Ryton Willows to return in glory. The full circuit is a 7 mile walk and should take us about 2.5 hours.
In the event of less warm and clement weather, we'll do a shorter circuit based around Newburn before retreating for a beer/diet sprite at the Keelman.

Trainers will be fine for most, though I'll be in my boots as normal. You might want some suncream if it's sunny. There is a shop in Wylam if you should want anything else!

Bring water, and perhaps a treat or two
