Join us in late 2021 for this expedition involving a 6-day trek in the Annapurnas and a 3-day white water rafting trip on the Kaligandaki river.
The Poon Hill trek leads you into the lush foothills of the mighty Annapurna range. Our goal during this 6-day trek is to reach the top of Poon Hill a viewpoint from where you can see the 8,000m Himalayan giants of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri at close quarters. At 3210m Poon Hill gives you stunning views up close to the Himalayas without the difficulty and arduous nature of high altitude trekking. This trek gives a taste of the fantastic trekking Nepal has to offer. You will be staying in local 'tea houses' where all your meals will be cooked. Porters will be carrying your main bag during the trek and we will be employing local guides who have worked with ODL on many previous trips to Nepal.
Once we have completed the trek we will be rafting down the Kaligandaki river from the end of the Annapurna circuit trail. Named after 'Kali' the goddess of destruction this river drains from the Tibetan plateau and plunges down through the Himalayas. We will be rafting through pristine jungle and past temples and traditional Nepali villages. With beautiful sandy beaches to camp on each night this river trip is considered one of the best in Nepal. No prior rafting experience is required. You will be taught all the skills and given all the safety equipment but you must be confident in the water.
On returning to Pokhara we will have a celebration meal in a lakeside restaurant before getting ready for an early transfer back to Kathmandu.
Our trip organizer (and OutdoorLads Member) Nick Read, is a qualified and experienced International Mountain Leader and expedition guide who has been working regularly in Nepal. He has led an OutdoorLads trip to Everest Base Camp in 2014 and 2017 and a raft trip on the Sun Kosi in 2012. The trek and raft ran in November 2018 with a large group from OutdoorLads and was loved by all who took part. It created memories and friends that will be treasured for many years. The trip is being run through Pride Expeditions, a company owned and directed by Nick Read.
This price for this once in a lifetime adventure is £1700 which includes all accommodation and transfers in Nepal. It also includes a welcome meal in Kathmandu and a celebration meal on the 8th November. All meals during the rafting trip are included but you will need to pay for your own meals in the tea houses during the trek. You will also need to organize and pay for your own international flights and entry visa.
