Three days (two nights)

Would you like to enhance your enjoyment of the countryside? Would you like to develop sound navigation skills and practice including planning your own walking routes? Would you like to gain confidence at map reading whether the weather is clear or misty? Well join Simon for two days of navigation training leading to your Silver National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) Award.

The National Navigation Award Scheme is a personal performance, non-competitive, incentive scheme for all ages to learn navigation skills and gain confidence to get out and enjoy the countryside.

The Silver National Navigation Award develops the navigation skills acquired at the Bronze level. It adds skills required to navigate to features and places some distance from paths and tracks. It teaches accurate compass work. It will also teach you to select the suitable navigational techniques to cross open country.

Silver National Navigation Award courses are taught in areas with access to open country and involve periods where you’ll be navigating away from paths and tracks.

The cost of this weekend covers accommodation at YHA Hathersage and includes a certificate for those who are successful. The same course offered by a commercial operation will typically cost over £100 before accommodation.

NNAS impose a strict 1:6 ratio in order to assure quality training and assessment.

IMPORTANT: You don't need to have your Bronze NNAS to join us for this weekend but you must be able to meet the requirements of the Bronze syllabus which you can find at https://nnas.org.uk/national-navigation-award-scheme/bronze-national-na…
