Marshes, Orchards and the North Kent Coast, 53 km

A road bike or speedy road hybrid is essential for this ride. We depart from the market town of Faversham, heading northwest through the remote Luddenham Marshes with views across the Swale to the Isle of Sheppey. We will pass through apple and pear orchards first towards the marina at Conyer then through lanes towards Lynsted. Over rolling hills, we will reach the charming square in Chilham, and then head north to return to Faverhsam.
This route will have lanes, and in places we use a gravel path on National Cycleway 1 (NC1). This is Ride 4 in Nick Cotton's Cycle Tours of Kent and East Sussex.
What to bring
A helmet is mandatory, and must be worn when riding at all times. Anyone without a helmet will not be permitted to start.
Please bring cycling essentials: spare tube; puncture repair kit; pump; and wet weather gear.
Food & drink
Please bring plenty of water, energy bars and gels. Please also bring lunch as we may not encounter a shop or cafe along the way.
