A 12km walk taking in the beautiful scenery of Froggatt Edge and Padley Gorge. Starting at the Longshaw National Trust Car Park, we head south onto Froggatt Edge, one of several gritsone edges that characterise this area of the Peak District, popular with outdoor climbers. From there we will descend quite rapidly to the River Derwent which we will follow for a short distance to the pretty village of Froggatt, where we will stop for lunch by the river. After lunch we will head north, roughly following the course of the river to Grindleford and Nether Padley. We may stop for refreshments at the Maynard in Gindleflord to prepare ouselves for the last section of our route, which is an ascent through the stunning scenery of Padley Gorge. Further refreshments will be avaiable at the Longshaw Cafe when we reach the end of the walk.
