DAY FOUR - Taunton to Bristol

Today's route will take us out of Somerset to Bristol, crossing over the Clifton Suspension Bridge and bimbling along the River Avon into the centre of Bristol for an ODL social.

Highlights today include;

  • "The Clifton Suspension Bridge, spanning the picturesque Avon Gorge, is the symbol of the city of Bristol. For almost 150 years this Grade I listed structure has attracted visitors from all over the world."
  • "Brunel's SS Great Britain is one of the most important historic ships in the world. When she was launched in 1843 she was called 'the greatest experiment since the Creation'.  By combining size, power and innovative technology, Brunel created a ship that changed history. His vision for the SS Great Britain made her the great-great-grandmother for all modern ships."
  • "The Apple brings you the world’s finest range of ciders & perries, along with some truly exceptional beers, wines and spirits, on a beautifully converted Dutch barge in the heart of Bristol’s Old City. Our large sun-drenched quayside terrace and deck bar with breath-taking views of the historic Floating Harbour also offers you the perfect setting to enjoy a menu of sumptuous, wholesome, west-country inspired, locally sourced food."

The route can be downloaded from here.
