The Derbyshire Dales are famed for their outstanding beauty and, by any criteria, Lathkill Dale is one of the loveliest as this walk so richly demonstrates.  Starting from the attractive village of Monyash, the route crosses open country, briefly dipping through the valley to Over Haddon.  It soon meanders to the foot of the dale at Conksbury Bridge, from which there is a superlatively beautiful 3 and half mile (5.6km) ramble along the steep sided, wooded banks of the Lathkill, undoubtedly the highlight of the walk.  Emerging through a rocky gorge at the head of the dale, it is then only a short stroll back to Monyash.
