Last Night of the Proms Weekend

Join us for some "Pomp & Circumstance" as we head to the glorious Isle of Wight to celebrate the Last Night of the Proms.
Our home for the weekend will be a rather splendid old Edwardian house which has been converted into a YHA. From here it's only a short walk from the cliff tops and beaches of Totland Bay - maybe you'll take a dip in the sea?
On Friday evening you'll have a chance to unwind and relax after your journey. Once everyone has arrived we'll sit down for food - breaking with ODL tradition the evening meal is included in the price. Afterwards there will be a couple of games.
We will confirm activities planned for Saturday daytime a bit closer to the weekend, but expect at least one walk to be on offer. The hostel has bike storage facilities if you fancy cycling.
Saturday evening will be the main event and we will be getting you into the Proms spirit! Our evening meal will reflect the spirit of the proms, and if that wasn't enough we'll be projecting the proms live onto a screen with surround speakers to deliver a truly immersive experience. Those with a desire to wave a union jack, blow a plastic hooter or don a dickie bow are very welcome to do so!
On Sunday a shorter walk will be on offer (weather dependent).
Why not make the most of your trip to the Isle of Wight and extend your stay? There may be the opportunity to book a further night with the YHA; alternatively there are numerous B&Bs and hotels on the island.
How to get here:
There are a variety of ways to get over to the Isle of Wight - by car ferry, catamaran or even hovercraft! The two closest ports are Yarmouth and Cowes, with Ryde further away.
Why not use the comments section to arrange to travel down with other attendees.
Dogs: This event is not suitable for dogs.

What to bring
We will firm up the activities closer to the date, but please bring suitable kit for any activities that you wish to take part in.
Please keep an eye out on the weather forecast nearer the time and pack accordingly! If the weather is good don't forget your swim shorts for a dip in the sea.
As we are celebrating the Proms - why not dress up for the occasion with a dinner jacket or waistcoat.
Don't forget a towel and clothes to wear around the hostel.
