Hebden Bridge and Stoodley Pike

This circular walk is 8.5 miles with an ascent of 400m. It should be a good leg-stretcher without being too much of a gruelling slog. The route will be a gentle start with a wander along the canal . After a couple of miles we’ll break out in Eastwood and start to make an ascent around woodland to Middle Stoodley House. The landscape then opens up and we will start to enjoy some great views of the landscape. The walk then joins the Calderdale Way where it can be steeper and windy in places, until we reach Stoodley Pike. We should get some great 360 views of the area. There are some steps to go up the ‘Pike’ (but it can be very gusty up here so hold on to yours hats!). We’ll then make our descent back to Hebden Bridge by walking along Dick’s Lane to Crow’s Nest Wood.
For those that want to, a well earned drink in one of the local pubs or cafes may follow. There won’t be places for refreshment along the way, so please bring a lunch, drink, snacks with you.
