Harter Fell (the other one...)

Not many people realise this, but there are actually 2 Harter Fells in north west England. There's the more famous one in the Lake District, overlooking Hardknott Pass, then there's this one tucked away in the north eastern corner of the Howgills.
From the centre of Ravenstonedale we will head south east to gain access to the Access Land on the northern slopes of Harter Fell, before heading south to the summit at 521m. We will descend over Little Harter Fell, down to cross the road and visit the waterfall at Gais Gill.
From the waterfall we will ascend Adamthwaite Bank to 481m, where we will then follow a horseshoe of summits over Grere Fell (544m), Green Bell (605m), Knoutberry (529m) and Knott (465m), after which we will descend back down into the village via Thornthwaite.

What to bring
Boots: A good pair of waterproof hiking boots will be essential for the walk, as we will be crossing some difficult and sometimes boggy terrain. Please make sure your boots are in good condition.
Waterproof Over Trousers: Waterproof over trousers are essential in keeping the legs dry in any significant rainfall, I hope we won't need them at this time of year, but pack them just in case.
Waterproof Jacket, a warm fleece, a decent quality wicking base layer and windproof walking trousers
Food & drink
You will need a packed lunch, which we will eat along the way, and 2 litres of water. There are no shops in the village or on the walk route, so you will need to bring everything you need with you.
