Funtime Friday: an April Spring Saunter
2 people attending
18 places left
Join Steven and the OutdoorLads for a Friday wander along the western edges of the North York Moors National Park not far from Teesside and the lower Tees Valley..
This hike route starts through pasture, managed woodland, scrubland and heather moor. The route has several easy climbs spaced out throughout so it is a good test of the legs but nothing difficult for those who walk regular or are fairly fit.
The village visited a third into the distance coincides with lunchtime and has good facilities, public conveniences, a nice cafe and several public houses for an extended stop. The pretty cottages and houses form a picture postcard view.
The high point of the day is Beacon Hill a great place to view the Vale of Mowbray across to the Yorkshire Dales, the high Northern Pennines and an eastern looking perspective along the Cleveland Hills.
Most of the paths and tracks are easy to follow much of the day along the Cleveland Way with laid down stone slabs, very good pitched pathways.
Although longer in distance this hike will be done at a more relaxed, steady pace with plenty of stops to pause to enjoy the scenery , wildlife, tea and cake .
