Barrhead
Wednesday 15th July
The Fereneze Braes provides a great vista of views across the Glasgow area towards the southern highlands in the north, Eaglesham Moor in the east and the Firth of Clyde in the west.
Our walk starts at Barrhead station and has a steep climb up the front of the braes. This is most of the route climb and eases substantially after the initial pull with a walk round Harelaw and Glenburn reservoirs. We take a path south to the wooded Killoch Glen before crossing Cowdon Glen and up to Neilston. This is a linear walk which finishes on a different railway line to the start point.
Please be aware some parts of the path are overgrown with prickly plants so trousers are recommended, along with good footwear.

What to bring
You should wear trail trainers or lightweight boots as some parts of the path may be muddy, trousers are also recommended over shorts as some sections are overgrown with gorse, thistles and nettles.
Clothing is very much weather dependant, jeans may be ok if it is a nice dry day however could become uncomfortable if we see a few showers. A fleece or jumper is recommended if it gets cooler in the evening.
Food & drink
Bring a bottle of juice and some snacks with you.
