Join us for the 1st Day of our ride from Liverpool to Sheffield.
We'll cycle along The Transpennine Trail (TPT), an exciting route linking the North and Irish seas, passing through the Pennines, alongside rivers and canals and through some of the most historic towns and cities in the North of England.
Come along for one day, two days or just part of a day, depending on how much of a challenge you are up for. Each day starts/ends near a well-served railway station. You will need to arrange your own overnight accommodation if required.

This event page is for day 1 (Liverpool to Stockport), which also offers flexible options to join/leave us at Garston, Widnes, Warrington, Altrincham or Didsbury, facilitated by the numerous railway stations very close to our route. If joining us anywhere other than Liverpool, please book onto the event, then message Paul. He will be able to confirm the approximate time and precise location to meet.
This 80km section of the route mainly consists of well-surfaced, traffic free paths with easy gradients, making it suitable for cyclists of all abilities. So everyone (including beginners) is welcome. You will need a reasonable level of fitness to maintain the steady pace of 8 to 10mph we'll be aiming for. As always, no one will get left behind. It's worth being aware that we will be on roads some of the time, and some parts of the TPT can be uneven and muddy if wet.
The route is best suited to hybrid bikes, though road or mountain bikes will also be fine. Please check that your bike is roadworthy before the ride, as you will be responsible for dealing with your own mechanical issues, should they arise on the day.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
If not completed previously, you MUST complete the Cycling Participation Statement in addition to booking your event space before attending a cycling event.
