There will be an optional hike on Saturday, but you're free to do your own thing.

With miles of beautiful coastline and tucked away beaches on the doorstep, this weekend provides an ideal base at the end of the Summer for walkers, nature-lovers, paddle-boarders, kayakers, sunbathers and cyclists. This is a truly special location which isn't often available to groups, so take advantage of it whilst you can!

Where are we going?

We'll be staying at YHA Boswinger which is just 5 mins walk to the nearest secluded beach..

This corner of Cornwall is full of charm, with the traditional Cornish Fishing Villages of Mevagissey nearby and the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan,  – these attractions are just minutes away.

The opportunities are endless, from the hypnotic fishing-village sleepiness of Portloe, to the fairytale enchanted-ness of Veryan, with its idyllic thatched roundhouses and classic country pub.

The hostel is only 15 miles from the Eden Project, so you've got the option to explore that are part of your weekend as well.

Itinerary

Friday Evening: Arrive anytime after 4pm, meet the rest of the group and socialise. Welcome 'meeting' and we'll have the usual Outdoor lads buffet so please bring something that can be shared between two or three people (try to avoid too much quiche!)

Saturday Day: After breakfast, we’ll head into the surrounding countryside to explore the coastline.  We'll head for the town of Mevagissey where people can grab lunch if they don't have a packed lunch before following the coastline back to the hostel via Dodmans Point.

As we're very close to the coast, if you're into Watersports, then there's surfing and paddleboarding opportunities.  Although please note you'll be doing this at your own risk as there will be no ODL leaders with you.

Saturday Evening: Relax, socialise, and chillout. Dinner is included in the event cost, and hopefully if the weather is suitable we can have a beach party.  At this time of year, in the evening we should have the beach to ourselves.

Sunday: After breakfast we need to check out by 11am.  As a final 'stretch of the legs' before the drive home, there will be a short walk up to nearby Caerhays Castle for a wonder around the gardens and woods.

Meals and Food

Including in the event cost - Saturday and Sunday Breakfast, Saturday Dinner

Please bring something suitable for the 'Friday Night Buffet' and make plans for Saturday lunchtime (Packed Lunch or plan for a pub lunch)
