Cardiff Indoor Climbing

Join us for an evening of climbing in Cardiff. Everyone welcome from novices to experts, we will primarily be doing roped climbing, although might also do some bouldering.
If you interested in climbing with us, but can't make this event, our other South Wales Climbing events can be found here.
I'm new to Climbing - can I come along? YES!
If you've never climbed before, just let the event leader know and they can arrange for you to be signed into the climbing centre as a supervised climber so that you can come and give it a try. If you enjoy your climbing experience, and would like to come climbing more regularly, we will also happily show you the ropes and teach you everything you need to know to climb safely.
Do I need to be Supervised as a Climber?
If you answer NO to any of the following three questions, then you will need to arrange to be supervised, please message the event leader before you sign up to this event to check availability for this session.
If you can answer YES to all these questions, you can sign up to this event as normal:
- Can you fit a climbing harness correctly?
- Can you tie in to a rope using the correct knots?
- Can you belay another climber correctly and confidently?
Please note that the climbing centre limits the number of novice climbers we can supervise, hence we need to know in advance to make sure enough experienced climbers are available.
How do I join this event?
To come along, please sign up on this OutdoorLads event page. You will also need to pay for entry to Boulders, this can be done at reception or in advance from their website. Harness and shoes can be rented from Boulders, but please bring your own if you have them.
If it's your first time climbing at Boulders (or you've not climbed since Boulders changed their booking system), you will also need to register with them at https://bouldersuk.com/register-to-climb. Select the options based on your experience ("First Time Users" if you need to be Supervised, "Competent Climber" if not).
Please contact the event leader with any questions (by clicking on their name, next to the photo below and sending a private message). If the event is full, please reach out to the event leader as we maybe able to add further places, depending on the number of new and experienced climbers.
Climbing and Bouldering Participation statement
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
All those attending the event must also be aware of the climbing centre's own terms and conditions of participation and abide by them, along with any instructions given by the centre's staff. Everyone must also take responsibility for their own safety while participating in Indoor climbing events.
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.
What to bring
If you have them, please bring your own climbing harness and shoes. The centre has equipment available to hire, check with the event leader if you're unsure what you need.
There are cubby holes at the centre where your belongings can be stored, but please avoid bringing expensive items. There are a limited number of lockers (bring your own padlock if you wish to use them).
What to Wear
Wear what you will be climbing in, as there are no changing rooms available. It is best to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms. Avoid tight fitting clothing which hampers movement. A t-shirt or vest is also suitable.
Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.
Food & drink
There is a cafe at the centre where snacks, drinks and light refreshments can be purchased. It operates on a cashless basis.
