Bakewell is a beautiful small town in the Peak District and the home of the famous Bakewell Tart. On the 27th and 28th  of  April there is a food festival with stalls, gazebos and trailers ready to serve you delicious dishes, drinks and goodies, as well as all the usual shops and pubs. But you will need to work for this treat! I am leading a 6.5 mile circular walk from bakewell to the Chatsworth Estate to build up your appetite.

The walk will leave from  Bakewell station go across the golf course and through Manners Wood. We will be walking toward Edensor Village.

There is an amazing little stall selling all kinds of goodies such as Fudge and Cake in Edensor, so if you want to start the treats early take some change. Prices are from £3.50 depending on what takes your fancy. We will cross the road at Edensor onto the Chatsworth Estate. We will follow the path to the bridge where we will stop for something to eat. Then we will follow the signs to Calton Lees. This will take us past the Chatsworth Garden Centre and onto a gated public bridleway. There will be a steady climb all the way to Calton Barn. Then we will walk across open fields and back to Manners Wood back into Bakewell.

The walk does have steep hills (as would be expected) and these have been muddy in places  over the past few weeks due to the heavy rain. If this remains the same the paths may be slippery.

When we arrive back in Bakewell we can enjoy the food festival, have some food and drinks from the stalls and a walk around the town.
