This linear walk follows the River Avon as it meanders along between Bath and Bradford on Avon, and is especially aimed at those reliant on public transport. In the same scenic wooded valley as the River there is the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Bristol to Salisbury railway line.
On this walk we will journey from Monkton Combe to Bath. After meeting up in Bath we will first of all take a bus to the starting point of the walk.  First we will explore the interesting micro museum about the Somerset Coal Canal.  Next we will see the Dundas Aqueduct where the Kennet and Avon Canal crosses both the railway and the river Avon rather like the Avoncliffe Aqueduct does that was seen on the previous walk. Our route follows the banks of the River for a while before heading uphill to Bathford Hill, which is widely forested, but will afford some nice views of the valley at times. After passing Brownes Folly which will be a good place for our picnic lunch, we will drop back down to Bathford and after pausing here for a drink, resume the journey to Bath along the towpath.

Dogs are welcome to join us on this event but please note the following:
This route follows the canal towpath where cyclists and walkers will be common, as will moored boats with open doors. Your dog needs to be well behaved or on a short lead.

Please also appreciate the fact that not everyone is a dog owner or lover- especially when we stop to eat
If your dog is uncontrolled, the leader is supported by the OutdoorLads board of trustees to ask you to leave the event as this is not acceptable behaviour
We cannot guarantee that this route is dog friendly - there may be styles to carry your dog across.
Your dog needs to have the stamina to keep up with the group.

Weather - please note this walk will not go ahead in heavy rain.
