Join Rob exploring the varied, autumnal landscape surrounding the village Wildboarclough, in the eastern edge of the Peak District.
This is the third of three walks on the trail of the wild boar, over babbling brooks, hills and ancient wooden valleys around the village.
The 8 mile circular walk, starts with a gentle climb southeast of WIldboarclough along the edge of Tagsclough Hill. From here we make the gentle descent to the impressive 18th century mill at Gradbach, where we can enjoy a pit stop at the small café. The café serves the usual hot and cold drinks and if we are lucky homemade cake!
Following the river Dane, we make the gentle climb along a forest track to the spectacular chasm, Lud's Church. Through the chasm, the forest trail leads to The Roaches, the rocky ridge with commanding views over the south peaks. Weather permitting, we can also take a short lunch break here.
Walking along the ridge path westwards, we make our descent over the river Dane at the village Danebridge. From here, we walk over meadows and along the Dane valley northwards to Clough Brook, which we follow back to the starting point.
With The Crag Inn very close by, there may also be the opportunity for a well-earned refreshment, if there's interest, before heading home.
This is a dog friendly walk, so please feel free to bring you dog/s along. Please note that we will be walking through farmland and dogs may need to be on a lead at these times.
