Join Alex for a 10-mile walk around the gentle countryside of North Essex.

On this circular route we'll gather at Audley End before heading into the pretty villages of Wendens Ambo and Newport. We then turn north and follow paths across streams, fields and woodlands, heading towards the market town of Saffron Waldon.

At the edge of the town we skirt around the grounds of Audley End House, a Jacobean mansion built in the early 17th century on the site of a dissolved monastery, and one of the filming locations of The Crown. Our route gives us fine views of the surrounding gardens, designed by Capability Brown, as well as the bridge by noted architect Robert Adam.

Most of the route is on quiet lanes and footpaths, but there is a short section along the road that gives us the best views of Audley End.

Don't waste that space!

Please only book if you know you can make it and if you plans change, please remember to hop off and free up the space for someone else.

Is it dog friendly?

The walk is suitable for dogs, though note that the route past Audley End house itself is on a reasonably busy road. However, please also remember not everyone loves dogs as much as you do, so please be mindful of other members.
