#GetOutMore this April!
This event is one of loads of events taking place over the same weekend! Check out all the events over the weekend of 4-6 April 2025: OutdoorLads.events/APR25. Great for new and regular members!
Join us this April for a refreshing and scenic walk around Alton Water, where we’ll embrace the beauty of spring in full bloom. As we follow the peaceful lakeside trails, we’ll be treated to stunning views of the water, budding wildflowers, and the sounds of birds returning for the season.
This walk is the perfect way to shake off the winter blues, enjoy some fresh air, and reconnect with nature. Whether you’re here for the serenity of the water, the joy of good company, or simply the love of walking, this adventure promises to be a wonderful way to welcome the warmer days ahead.
Don't waste that space!
Late spring always means lots of new and existing members excited to be getting back out more. Please only book if you know you can make it. If your plans change please free up the space for someone else.
New members
Please feel free to join this as your first OutdoorLads event. If you have any questions then feel free to message me, or go to the "My First Event" section under "About Us".
Is it dog friendly?
Dogs are welcome but please be aware not all members are as fond of dogs as you

What to bring
Water: bring at least two litres.
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Day rucksack: typically 20-30 litres, they are comfortable to wear and allow you to use your arms freely
Boots: waterproof and breathable and designed for hiking, trainers are OK if the ground is dry and there’s little chance of rain.
Gaiters: recommended for wet weather or boggy conditions.
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters.
Layered clothing: lets you quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather add an outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece).
Trousers: jeans are not ideal as they become heavy and cold in the rain. Breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and shorts are convenient for warm days.
Waterproof jacket: essential when hiking in all but the calmest of weather. Breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry.
Hat or cap: stay warm in winter and shaded in summer.
Sunglasses: recommended just in case at any time of year
Sun cream: the sun can be unexpectedly fierce so please ensure you protect yourself.
Food & drink
There is cafe at begging and end of walk which sells sandwiches and snacks, coffee ect.
otherwise there is no food of drink places on rest of walk which is 8 miles. Please bring at least a litre of water.
Note : the cafe opens at 930. I will probably go early and have some breakfast . They do basic things like scrambled eggs and bacon and eggs on toast ...... but no full english.
