The 4 Abbeys Circular Road Cycle
6 people attending
6 places left
A moderate to hard 55 mile circular cycle around the Borders of Scotland taking in the ruined abbeys of Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Jedburgh. This is a repeat of the cycle I did 2 years ago which was enjoyable. We will travel on undulating quiet roads [except some A-roads for short distances) and there will be a few short sharp climbs. There is a total height gain on this route of 1185m
We will be stopping at one or two cafés or pubs along the way though there are some long stretches away from the towns.
Detailed information including downloads for the PDF and the GPX files of the route can be seen at: http://cyclescottishborders.com/route/4-abbeys/
What to bring
Please bring a full cycle repair kit , clothing should it get wet, some money, food and sufficient water to keep you hydrated
Food & drink
There will be chances to stop at tea shops/pubs for food. Though it is recommended that you bring food and drink to sustain yourself. You will be burning a lot of calories!
