A 20 mile leisure off road trail ride one steep hill (we can walk it) then down hill most of the way.

Join me on on my second outing on two wheels, this time completely unsupervised!

  • A 20 mile leisure off road trail ride.
  • We will take our time no rush and stick together as a group.
  • This ride is aimed at MTB or hybrid bike cyclists with a reasonable level of fitness. (sorry no road bikes)
  • Please ensure your bike is in good working order and well maintained.
  • A helmet is Compulsory, you will not be permitted to take part without!

We start at Shoreham town riding up the Downs Link cycle path.  A repurposed railway line, tracking up the side of the River Adur affording us good views of the Lancing college chapel on the other side.

Crossing the river we head to Bramber heading west picking up Monarchs Way and on and up our steepest ascent of the day, Steyning Bowl. We will ride, walk-push and pant our way up, the fittest can meet the rest of us up the top!

At the top we will join the South Downs way that will lead us to Chanctonbury ring. The Ring is a prehistoric hill fort atop Chanctonbury Hill here we will stop and admire the views and eat our lunch.

Leaving our first ring we head north to our next. Cissbury ring is a biological site of special scientific interest owned by the National Trust it is also a scheduled monument for its neolithic flint mine.

Leaving Cissbury with once again join Monarchs Way leading to the South Downs way we will wiz past Steyning Bowl heading down towards the back of Lancing. Popping out from the countryside, passing Lancing College. We cross the river for the last time using the old wooden toll bridge.

Arriving back in Shoreham we will head to the pub for a well earned drink, and this is where the event will end.
