Show the world your creative streak and paint your window a new shade of fabulous!
Even before Pride season would've begun in earnest, I have seen more rainbows this year than ever before and it's so great to see this symbol of joy, love and hope being shared in windows up and down the country.
But why should kids have all the fun?!
Crafting can be mindful or mindless - either way it's good for the brain and the soul in both good times and bad. We can rediscover forgotten talents and childhood pleasures (peeling dried PVA glue off your fingers, anyone?) now we have a bit more time on our hands or maybe redirect those skills we use for work to create something beautiful to share with our neighbours and passers by.
Or just have a laugh trying.
We'll get together virtually and share our collective creative juices over a drink and a chat for an hour or so, creating something rainbow-themed. A few ideas to get you started:
- Classic pens, pencils and paper
- Concertina fold a rainbow flag
- Rummage for food colourings and dye egg shells, marshmallows, white flowers...
- Check out all the colourful fruit and veg - rainbow salad, rainbow pizza, rainbow fruit flan (maybe not for the window though...)
- Quality Street wrapper stained glass (great excuse to eat some)
- Digital creations with photos, drawing or video
- Write an uplifting poem in coloured pens
- Collage with colourful flower petals
- Window paints or pavement chalks
You'll find many more ideas online but please don't feel any need to impress. It's about togetherness, fun and showing our thanks (and pride)!

What to bring
- A phone, laptop or tablet to join in the group chat
- Craft supplies - please don't go out of your way to get things specially. Most supermarkets will have a stationery/arty shelf if you're there anyway or you've probably got something perfectly adequate lying around the home.
Food & drink
Elevenses? Or perhaps a cheeky aperitif before Sunday lunch ...
