An easy walk alongside the River Weaver and on canal towpath, about 8 miles.

An easy walk along the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal visiting the famous Anderton Boat Lift.

We will meet by the Leigh Arms at Bartington (CW8 4QT) and walk along the River Weaver for about 4 miles. On reaching Northwich we will visit the famous Anderton Boat Lift which is used to lift boats from the River Weaver to the Trent and Mersey canal.  There is a shop and cafe here if you don't want to bring any butties with you. We will stop here for our lunch and then return to our starting point along the Canal walking over the top of two tunnels. There may be an opportunity to call in the Leigh Arms for a drink after the walk.

The nearest railway station is Acton Bridge, if you can get a train there someone could come and meet you and take you to the start of the walk.

Don't worry if all the places have gone, sign up to the waiting list and you will get a place if someone drops out in the next week or so.
